    Warwickshire Weddings – Warwick House

So we have already featured the fabulous moodboard from Zena and Paul’s wedding. Lots of white, with a touch of silver and sparkle, so today I am really pleased to be able to feature the full wedding. The photography was by the very lovely McAvoy Photography. The wedding is elegant, contemporary and very theatrical-more of that later. It’s a second time around wedding for both Zena and Paul and for a bride of a certain age Zena looks simply fabulous . It’s treat to have reports from both Zena and Paul today so over to them for the full story.

Paul – I planned the proposal for about 6 months by buying a ring and composing a poem.

Zena – The proposal was unexpected on a late night walk on Perranporth beach in Cornwall.

What was the most important consideration when planning your wedding?

Zena – The most important plans for the wedding were selecting a venue that accommodated ceremony and reception in the same place, that was indoors so the weather didn’t matter, having lovely photos as a lasting memory of the day and the right dress!

Paul – The most important part of planning for me was to have a big celebration that all the friends who had supported our relationship could come and celebrate with us at.

What did you use to help plan your wedding?

We enjoyed going to bridal fairs and buying all the wedding magazines every month for inspiration.

How involved were you, Paul, in the wedding planning?

I was involved in everything, even helped to choose the wedding dress!!

What was the theme of your wedding?

The theme and colour scheme for the wedding were silver inspired by Jimmy Choo shoes and the bow on the back of the Ian Stuart gown. Our tables were named after famous plays, as we are both keen amateur actors.

Zena -I had one bridesmaid which was my daughter so that was an easy choice.

Paul – Groomsmen were our sons so an obvious choice.

How did you choose your suppliers?

Suppliers were chosen by face to face meetings at bridal fairs or through ads in bridal magazines. Good rapport with suppliers was a crucial factor.

Our venue-Warwick House was chosen after attending an open evening there.

Photographers -McAvoy Photography and cake makers were chosen after meeting them at a bridal fair. Florist was local to and recommended by the venue as was the DJ.

Stationery was chosen via an ad in a bridal magazine and requesting a sample which was spot on for our needs. Didn’t realise the stationery would have such a positive effect for guests in setting the scene and theme.

How did you choose your wedding dress?

Loved the dresses by the designer Ian Stuart in the magazines and after trying one of his creations on knew his range was perfect. Narrowed it down to three possibles but settled on ‘the one’ having fallen for the gorgeous over-sized bow detail on the back.

I chose accessories to match the diamante trim on the neckline, after lots of searching I found a bracelet and earrings at Monsoon. I tried hair combs on after second trial hair appointment which was useful to get the exact effect.

What went through your mind, Paul, when you first saw Zena?

I just thought how perfect she looked and exactly how I had imagined it would be.

    What did your bridesmaid wear?

A fabulous brightly coloured dress from Monsoon.

    What did your groomsmen wear?

All the guys in the bridal party wore light grey morning suits with silver embroidered waistcoats and black patent shoes.

    How about food?

Paul – Enjoyed the pudding best – after my speech was over! I was the only one who made a speech. Apparently I made people laugh and cry so reckon that was the right result.

What was your first dance music and why?

First dance was to ‘She’  by Elvis Costello, which a special tune of ours that I used to sing to myself when I dreamed about her.

Did your budget change through the planning process?

Zena – Budget increased constantly as theres a tendency to think having spent so much already why not go for the best of everything else!

Paul – Budget increased and we’ll be paying for it for a while longer but that’s ok.

    Favourite wedding purchases

Zena – The shoes and photos as a lasting reminder.

Paul – Favourite wedding purchase was the rings.

Didn’t really do bargains as we purchased items to fit the theme whatever the cost. It all felt very extravagant – but then again why not!

    Thoughts on the wedding day

Zena – Everything went to plan which was a great relief but it was lovely getting all our favourite people together in one place to celebrate with.

Paul – It was such an exciting day I didn’t really have time to stop and think so just immersed myself in the day and enjoyed!

Thankyou to Zena and Paul for sharing their wonderful wedding. I love the theme and the venue looks beautiful. Bye for now, Jenny.

    Favourite part of the day

Favourite part of the day was signing the register and walking back down the aisle as a married couple to the whoops and cheers of the guests.
