Gloucestershire Wedding Photographer – A Lake Lane Photography Real Wedding

Got a lovely treat of a real wedding on the blog today, full of happy smiley faces, a rich red colour scheme and the cutest pageboy ever. Instead of our usual bride report on the day, today we have a report from the Gloucester photographer, Stacey, of Lake Lane Photography.

Stacey of Lake Lane Photography is a photographer starting out in the wedding industry, based on the outskirts of Gloucester. This was the first wedding she ever photographed so it holds a special place in her heart.

So it’s over to Stacey for her thoughts on Jessica and Matthew’s big day…..

    Lake Lane Photography

As we all know, shooting a Wedding is a big responsibility and doing your first is petrifying. Luckily, Jessica and Matthew approached me and allowed me to shoot their small intimate wedding in Mitcheldean in Gloucestershire.

Things were made a lot easier by Jessica and Matthew who believed in my photography skills and were happy to trust me to provide them with a photographic account of their big day, from the bridal preparations to the end of the ceremony.

Making friends with this couple and getting to know them before hand was a big help both to myself and to them as we could then relax in each other’s company. We sat and talked in length about what kind of images they were looking for and also any special people they wanted to include in the final package.

Being part of the bridal preparations was fantastic. I became one of the girls to a certain level and blended in well capturing their personalities as well as the emotions that were running high that day. This was my opportunity to take in the details like the dress and shoes and also the flowers which are considered an important part of the day.

Once the bridal preparations were done I raced off to the Church to find the groom and his men and also the couple’s 2 boys waiting nervously. This was more emotion that I wanted to capture. Each of them wanted to see how the other was before the wedding. I think I managed to capture that.

Inside the church, the vicar was strict on where I was allowed to be. As it was a religious ceremony I was not to distract from the vows so therefore needed to stay at the back of the church. Abenhall Church, Mitcheldean was the idea setting for Matthew and Jessica as it was in their home town and also the church in which Jessica’s parents were married.

I positioned myself at the end of the aisle and took in the excitement and love of Matthew and Jessica and all their family and friends around them.  Once the ceremony was over I approached the alter and took in the importance of the signing of the register.

Outside once the ceremony was finished the guests mingled and allowed me to take control over who I wanted and where. The church is set in the most beautiful of surroundings and it wasn’t difficult for me to find the perfect backdrops for the shots I wanted to catch. Perfect slopes and handrails allowed me to take in all the guests in one image.

As a photographer I found it was important for me to listen to what the Bride and Groom wanted but also to be assertive to get the best I could. I think this newlywed couple was grateful that I was able to take charge and take the pressure off them.

The romantic images at the end of the day provided much rest and relaxation for the couple. I got them to relax into the poses and enjoy the sight and smell of each other whilst I saw the love between them..

All in all I enjoyed my first Wedding Shoot and feedback tells me that Jessica and Matthew had no regrets in asking me to be a very important part of their day.

As I have made no secret that this was my first wedding shoot, I will say that I am looking forward to meeting more couples and building my portfolio throughout the next couple of years.

If you would like to have a chat with me about your wedding then please contact me at www.lakelanephotography.co.uk. I would be happy to help in any way I can.

Thankyou Stacey for sharing your insight into your very first wedding. it is worth noting that Stacey was already an established portrait photographer when she photographed her first wedding, so make sure you see . If you have a wedding you would like to share, please get in touch. It’s your blog so  we’d love you to be a part of it. Bye for now, Jenny.
