    Bedford Weddings – Sharnbrook Hotel

What I love about today’s real wedding is not just the emotion, laughter and pretty flowers, but the reports from Sarah and Carl. Very typical of how the planning of a wedding is delegated between the bride and groom (in general) and very typical of the differing priorities of the couple. Don’t stress if you do have different priorities-you are not marrying a clone, you know what you are getting, embrace the differences and celebrate the day as individuals as well as a couple 🙂 Thankyou to Digital Dream Productions for submitting their images and wedding film to us. Let’s get to those reports from Sarah and Carl….

Sarah – Carl proposed to me on my birthday. He left my beautiful engagement ring in the box on the table, I walked in the room and see it sparkling away and started crying. Obviously I said YES straight away!!

Carl – I had it planned for a while and got the ring a few weeks before to ensure it was going to be here for her birthday.

What was important to you when initially planning wedding

The most important thing to me was making sure we had all of our family and friends with us to share our day.

What did you use to plan your wedding?

Sarah – We attended several wedding fayres and got a lot of ideas from them and also I knew a lot of people who were already married which was a great help to get some ideas from.

Carl – Sarah arranged most things with the wedding and I just went along to the meetings.  I left it up to her.

What was your wedding theme/colour scheme

As Carl is an avid football fan, supporting Tottenham, we chose to go for blue, in the end it was a beautiful ocean blue. I stopped on the theme after he told me he wants to wear a football strip to the wedding!!!!

How did you choose your bridesmaids?

My sister was my maid of honour which she would always be, I also had my 2 best friends who I have known for a very long time and who we both are very close to then my youngest bridesmaid was my 8 year old cousin. She looked absolutely gorgeous, as did they all.

Why did you choose your groomsmen?

My best man was my best mate who I’ve grew up with and known for 30 years. I had 5 ushers, 2 of my younger brothers, my brother in law and 2 other close mates who I’ve also known a long time and see on a regular basis. Then we had a young page boy who is Sarah’s youngest male cousin at 3 years old.

How did you choose your suppliers?

Again, we choose a lot of our suppliers from meeting them at Wedding Fayres which was a great help.

Venue – The Sharnbrook Hotel, Bedford. A modern venue which made our day more than we could of wished for.

FloristRiverside Flowers, Kettering. I’ve seen their flowers in the shop numerous times and they are so beautiful we decided on them for our wedding flowers which were amazing.

PhotographerDigital Dream Productions, Leicester. We met them at a wedding fayre and they were so helpful and very thorough with their work we decided to have them capture our special day. They were fab! We’ve got more memories than we could have wished for with our pictures and video, capturing moments throughout the whole day from a very nervous bridal prep to our guests enjoying themselves on the dance floor in the evening.

Cake Maker Hockleys, Brixworth. One word – YUMMY!! The cake looked and tasted fab.

Event DresserQuality Chair Covers, Milton Keynes. They provided us with a back drop for behind the top table and swags hanging from the ceiling both with fairy lights in and also all our chair covers with a bow matching the bridesmaid colours.

EntertainmentDJS Entertainment for our Disco which played some great music to suit everybody. We also had Casino tables at night, blackjack and roulette supplied by Dave Andrews Entertainment which everyone played on and especially kept the men happy whilst the ladies danced the night away and we had a sweet table supplied by The Artlenock Shop in Irthlingborough which looked amazing so much so when me and Carl went to get some sweets they had all gone!! ( He wasn’t happy!!).

StationeryQuills Wedding Stationery, Raunds. All our stationary was hand made, we had everything matching from Save the Date cards to name Cards. Everyone commented on how beautiful our invites were.

    Any DIY projects?

Im not very creative so I just left it all to everybody else…less stress!!

Where did you find your dress?

I got my dress from Brides of Wellingborough.

How did you know you had found the one?

It was the first shop I went to and looked for my dress, I tried on 3 dresses and wasn’t sure then I put the next one on and it felt amazing, I knew it was the one, I tried 2 more on after and still went back to the 4th one and that’s the one I came home with!!

What accessories did you choose and why?

I had a long veil with diamantes in it which made everything sparkle that little bit more. A sparkly tiara which went very well with my hair and some traditional ivory silk wedding shoes.

    Groomsmen clothes

We all wore the same morning suits, black jacket and trousers, silver patterned waistcoats and I wore an ivory cravat whilst the others wore silver.

First thoughts when saw your bride

That she looked absolutely beautiful. Her dress was lovely, hair & makeup looked great.

We was all nervous about the speeches. Sarah’s Dad went first which was a great speech talking about Sarah growing up and me coming into the family. Then it was my turn, which I wrote on the morning of the wedding!!!!, thanking everybody and talking a little about Sarah and then the Best Mans turn which everyone was laughing and so shocked of how good it was!

We had a 3 course meal at the venue, which everyone said how lovely the food was…not that me and Carl ate ours, to much adrenaline I think! A great selection of food for our guests to choose from.

    First dance music and why

Sarah – Our first dance was LeAnn Rimes, How do I live without you. We changed our minds so many times, swapping between 2 songs, the other was an upbeat songs from the early 90’s. Im glad we had LeAnn Rimes, the words are so relevant and sends shivers down my spine when I hear it.

Carl – I left Sarah to chose the first dance, even though she changed her mind a lot!!!

How did your budget change from first planning to the wedding day

I always knew what I wanted for my wedding day, nothing too over the top. As the planning came together and costs came in we knew we was still in our budget and had everything we wanted still.

    Your favourite wedding purchase

Sarah – My dress. It was amazing and I loved wearing it.

Carl – Got to be my Spurs cufflinks Sarah bought me…something had to be football!!!!

    Best wedding bargain

Sarah – Best bargain was my jewellery. My bracelet looked very expensive but really it was only £20!! BARGAIN!!!!!

Carl – Got to be the cufflinks again!

    Most extravagant part of wedding

Some of the dancing at night!!!!!

    Thoughts on wedding day

We couldn’t fault one bit of our day. Everything ran smoothly and as we wanted to. All of our family and friends were there to share our day. It was magical and we couldn’t have asked for anything more!

    Favourite part of the day

Sarah – I can’t choose a favourite part of the day as every single part was amazing!!

Carl – It was all my favourite but the football related table names made it!! 🙂

Thankyou to Sarah & Carl and to Digital Dream Productions for this lovely wedding. And now as a special bonus we also have their lovely wedding film. Enjoy and Happy Friday everyone! Bye for now, Jenny.

If you don’t mind me asking, what was your budget? A casino is something we were looking at and the sharnbrook hotel is on our list of go sees but I want to have an idea of prices in my head before visiting

Hi Samantha. Unfortunately I don’t have this information, but if you contact the venue I’m sure they can send you a price list before you visit.
